Sapphire

Sapphire is the gem variety of the mineral corundum and is most famous for its vibrant blue hues, though it naturally occurs in nearly every color except red (classified as ruby). Its deep color, exceptional hardness (Mohs 9), and high brilliance make it one of the most enduring and valuable colored gemstones in the world. Trace elements such as iron and titanium are responsible for sapphire’s range of colors, with blue being the most iconic.

Natural sapphires are sourced from locations including Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Myanmar, Thailand, and Montana. While royal and cornflower blues are the most sought after, fancy sapphires come in yellow, pink, green, purple, and even color-change varieties. Fine sapphires are most often faceted into ovals, cushions, or rounds to emphasize clarity and light return, while certain stones with asterism (star sapphires) are cut en cabochon.

Sapphire is the birthstone for September and is associated with the zodiac sign Virgo. Symbolizing wisdom, integrity, and protection, sapphire has been treasured throughout history in both spiritual traditions and royal adornments.

Our sapphire collection includes a broad selection of loose natural stones in a variety of sizes, colors, and price points. Whether you’re seeking a traditional blue sapphire or an elegant fancy-colored option, every gem is carefully selected for its quality, color saturation, and cut — offering great value at every tier.

To care for sapphire, clean gently using warm water, a mild soap, and a soft brush. Most sapphires are stable and durable enough for ultrasonic cleaning, but stones with inclusions or fracture filling should be cleaned by hand. Store sapphires separately to avoid scratching softer stones.
