Garnet

Garnet is a group of closely related silicate minerals that share a common crystal structure but differ in chemical composition, resulting in a wide spectrum of colors and gem varieties. While deep red garnets like almandine and pyrope are most widely recognized, garnet species also occur in vivid orange (spessartine), bright green (tsavorite, demantoid), pink-purple (rhodolite), and rare color-change varieties. Garnets have a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 and exhibit excellent brilliance due to their high refractive index, making them ideal for faceting and daily-wear jewelry.

Each garnet variety forms under different geological conditions, contributing to their diverse physical properties. For example, tsavorite and demantoid are part of the grossular and andradite species respectively, with strong dispersion and vibrant hues, while almandine and pyrope tend to be darker and more saturated. Garnets are found worldwide, with notable sources including Mozambique, Namibia, Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Russia. Stones are typically faceted into rounds, ovals, cushions, and antique-style cuts to maximize brilliance and color depth.

Garnet is the birthstone for January and is traditionally associated with the zodiac sign Capricorn. It is often linked to grounding energy, commitment, and personal vitality. Due to the stone’s wide color range and affordability across varieties, it remains one of the most versatile and appreciated gemstones in the market.

Our garnet collection includes carefully selected stones from multiple species — including rhodolite, spessartine, pyrope, tsavorite, almandine, and andradite — in a variety of cuts, sizes, and color profiles. We offer a full range of quality grades for all budgets, with every stone chosen for its natural clarity, polish, and cutting precision.

To care for garnets, clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Most garnets are stable under normal conditions, but ultrasonic cleaners and heat exposure should be avoided for stones with visible inclusions or fracture potential. Store separately from harder gemstones to prevent surface abrasion.
