Ametrine
Ametrine is a rare bicolor gemstone that naturally combines both amethyst (purple) and citrine (golden-yellow) within a single crystal. This unique color zoning occurs due to differing oxidation states of iron during the quartz’s formation. With a Mohs hardness of 7 and a glassy luster, ametrine is a durable and striking choice for jewelry designs that demand originality and contrast.
The most notable source of ametrine is the Anahí Mine in Bolivia, which produces nearly all the gem-quality ametrine available on the market today. Ametrine crystals are often precision-cut to emphasize the sharp color transition between purple and yellow, creating stunning geometric effects in emerald, step, or fantasy cuts.
Ametrine is not an official modern birthstone but is often appreciated by those born in February and November, as it bridges amethyst and citrine. It is also associated with both Pisces and Scorpio, representing balance, duality, and creativity.
Our ametrine inventory features a selection of natural bicolor stones in varied cuts and sizes, all chosen for their clarity, bold zoning, and polish. We carry quality options for designers and collectors alike — from affordable pieces to exceptional showstones.
To care for ametrine, clean with mild soap, warm water, and a soft brush. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, extreme heat, and harsh chemicals. Store separately from harder materials to protect the surface.
