Alexandrite

Alexandrite is the rare color-change variety of chrysoberyl, known for its dramatic shift from green or bluish-green in daylight to red or purplish-red under incandescent light. This unique optical phenomenon is caused by complex light absorption due to chromium in the crystal structure. With a Mohs hardness of 8.5 and excellent toughness, alexandrite is one of the most durable and precious colored gemstones available.

Natural alexandrite is extremely rare, especially in larger sizes. Fine specimens are primarily sourced from Brazil, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania, with Russian alexandrite being the most historically celebrated. Stones under one carat are most common, and prices rise steeply with carat weight and strength of color change.

Alexandrite is the birthstone for June and is traditionally associated with the zodiac sign Gemini. It is often linked to personal transformation, adaptability, and self-reflection due to its dynamic nature.

Our alexandrite selection features natural, precision-cut stones in a range of carat sizes and qualities to suit collectors, jewelers, and gemstone lovers with varying budgets. All stones are carefully inspected for color quality, clarity, and authenticity.

To clean alexandrite, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth or brush. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and prolonged exposure to strong chemicals. Store separately from harder materials to prevent abrasions.
